Hi, my name is Tarryn and permanent make-up and medical tattooing have been passion, my craft and my absolute focus for the last 20 years.

Since then, i’ve continued to spend my time focused on learning, teaching and perfecting my skills. I believe that to be one the best permanent make up artists, you have to dedicate yourself to constant learning and also research and development of new techniques.

Through this on going learning, I discovered my second passion which is teaching and lecturing.
I have been teaching permanent make-up and medical tattooing for the Finishing Touches Group for 11 years now, and I also teach for some of the best permanent make-up academies in the world.

SERVICES / TREATMENTS AVAILABLE

EYES

Lash line enhancement
Make your lashes look thicker and darker with a subtle enhancement in between your lash roots. Great if you are not wanting a visible liner above the lashes.

Eyeliner - enviable almond eyes
Define and line your eyes with a perfectly shaped eyeliner, designed specifically to suit your eye shape. Beginning with a fine crisp line at the inner corner of the eye and widening gradually toward the outer corner.

Bold, dramatic statement eyeliner
Let your eyeliner make a statement with a high definition dramatic line of maximum thickness. Please note, thicker eyeliner may require more than 2 treatments.

BROWS

3D Hair Stroke Brows
Liberate yourself from your brow pencil. Create more volume and shape in your brow with the addition of a few expertly placed natural looking micro fine hair strokes. This technique is excellent for balancing asymmetrical brows and filling in gaps leaving you with beautiful naturally shaped and full brows. The hair strokes are created with the Nano needle, finest most advanced needle available.

Balayage Brows / Ombre effect
Balayage is a soft graduated shading technique that looks like air brushed powder under the skin. It gives an incredibly natural multi dimensional finish, that is wonderfully flattering for any brow. It's perfectly customisable so a more bold look is also possible, it’s all about the application technique.

Combination brows
Redefine, lift and emphasise your brow with a combination of soft Balayage shading and expertly placed hair strokes.
With this method, brows can be realistically re-created where they have been over-plucked or lost due to Alopecia.

Pixel Brows
The most natural brow enhancement possible. Very soft micro dots of colour are placed under the skin to give a barely there haze of colour. Ideal for those clients who really want the softest definition possible. Perfect for anyone who is really nervous of getting their brows done and only wanting to try out a subtle enhancement at first.

LIPS

Lip liner
This treatment targets the lip contour or vermillion border only, to renew and re define it.
It is best done in a very subtle natural colour.

Lip Blush
A subtle blush of colour can be added to soften and blend the lip liner into the lip, creating a soft natural looking finish. The lip blush blends the lip liner or contour gently into the body of the lip, but not all the way through the lip. Its a fabulous look for anyone who wears a soft lip liner with a lip gloss to blend it into the lip.

Luscious full 3Dimensional Lips
Give your lips maximum definition and lustre with a full lip colour treatment. Fantastic if you no longer want to use lipstick, or if you want to get back your youthful rosy glow.
A full lip colour is a must if you have irregularly shaped, poorly defined or pale lips.
The treatment can be done using one colour, with the pigment artfully shaded through the lip to create a fuller looking lip.
The treatment can be completed using 2-3 shades of pigment, to give you luscious full looking lips with highlights and shadows in just the right places to maximise lip volume.

MEDICAL TATTOOING

Amazingly innovative techniques are used in medical tattooing to diminish, improve and disguise scarring from surgery, injury, trauma and illness.
The most sought after treatment being Areola and nipple colour restoration following a mastectomy or breast surgery.
Medical tattooing helps you to recover physically as well as psychologically by restoring your self esteem and self confidence.

Treatments Available

Scar Revision and Camouflage
Usually about one year after a scar has healed, a technique called dry needling or MCA (multi trepannic collagen actuation) is used to relax, flatten and soften the scar. Dry needling causes the body to go into a state of natural self repair stimulating collagen production. In some cases MCA treatments can also help the scar to re-pigment by itself. Once skin is re-pigmented the colour is permanent and will tan and fade the same as the surrounding skin. If the scar does not re-pigment on its own, carefully selected shades of pigments can also be implanted to match the scar to the colour of the surrounding skin.

Areola and Nipple colour restoration

Many women today have undergone either a mastectomy, breast reduction, augmentation, reconstruction or uplift. Unfortunately these surgeries often leave behind unsightly and in some case dramatic scarring. An optical reconstruction of the areola and nipple tissue can be carried out following surgery once the breast has healed. Using carefully selected shades of pigment, the nipple and areola complex is realistically recreated with 3 dimensional shading.Prior to the treatment a thorough consultation is carried out to determine the best position, shape, colour and size. Dry needling is also used to reduce outlying scars on the surrounding breast tissue. If you naturally have pale areolas, then the pigments can also be used to darken or add a youthful flush of colour to the areola.

Burn Scar Relaxation

Contracted or uncomfortably tight burn scars can be relaxed and softened using the MCA technique. Camouflage pigments can also be used to blend colour to surrounding skin tissue, this is also successful on skin grafts. Both treatments can only be done once the effected area has healed.

Other treatments available include scalp camouflage, vitiligo camouflage and cleft lip reconstruction. Make an appointment today to find out how medical tattooing can change the way you feel about you!

Wrinkle Reduction MCA

A completely risk free, practically painless alternative to injectable muscle relaxants such as Botox. MCA is an entirely natural way of getting the bodies own cells to produce more Collagen and Elastin. There is very little down time and the treatment can be repeated as often as necessary.

Permanent make-up correction and Removal

Badly done permanent make up can cause significant psychological and emotional distress. There are a few methods of removal available on the market, but many often result in scarring.
Salt and Saline removal is possibly the most well know method and certainly the safest.
During treatment a salt and saline solution is tattooed into the target area, where they begin to gently draw the pigment particles out by reverse osmosis. This method requires 2-4 visits, spaced 6-8 weeks apart. This is a wonderful alternative to the more aggressive skin damaging removal methods. Often this method is used to lighten the permanent make-up enough to cover it with something more flattering.
Complete removal of the original procedure is however, unlikely. Results vary depending on the state of the skin in the area to be treated. If the original treatment has scarred or damaged the skin in ant way, this will lessen the chances successful removal. Also the depth of implantation of the original procedure will also effect the results.

MAINTAINING YOUR PERMANENT MAKE-UP

All permanent make up requires maintenance, the pigment will fade and alter in hue over time as it is broken down by the body. The length of time it takes for this to happen is unique to each and every person. Some skins retain pigment for longer than others and some skins do not retain pigment well at all. Other factors that can accelerate this fading process include sun exposure, skin care products, some skin treatments, skin peels and certain medications.
How long you wait until you feel you are ready for a touch up is up to you, but around 12 months is recommended.
For those that like their permanent make-up to look brand new, a 6 month top up is recommended.

WHAT IS PERMANENT MAKE-UP

Permanent make-up is the process of implanting hypo allergenic pigment into the dermal layer of the skin. This pigment will, after a healing process, stay in the skin for a number of years. It will break down and fade with time, dependent on the patients age; skin type and lifestyle.
We call this permanent make-up, semi permanent make-up, cosmetic tattooing or micro pigmentation.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO OR NOT DO PRIOR TO MY APPOINTMENT

Please do not take any ibuprofen or aspirin or alcohol within 72 hours of your appointment if possible, this will increase the likelihood of you bleeding and result in poor pigment retention.
Please remove any false lashes before attending your eyeliner appointment.
Please let Tarryn know if you are taking any medications as some may pre clue you from having a treatment or require written consent from your GP.

HOW LONG WILL MY PERMANENT MAKE UP LAST

There is no way to determine before hand exactly how long your colour will remain visible. It depends on your individual skin type, lifestyle, colour choice, medication levels and general health as well as sunbathing and skin routine. The majority of people find that the treatment lasts from 1 to 3 years.
Previous make-up techniques have lasted up to 5 years, but the results were heavily applied make-up. We now find clients want a more natural result and this shortens the life expectancy of the colour. For the best results to keep your make-up looking amazing we recommend a yearly touch-up/colour boost is advised.

HOW LONG WILL MY APPOINTMENT BE

Your first visit will be around 1.5 hours. A second visit or annual re touch is around 30 - 45 minutes.

WHAT WILL MY AFTERCARE BE

Please read these instructions thoroughly and to refer to them during your healing process and prior to your touch up appointment.
Make sure you follow these instructions carefully to ensure the best possible result for your permanent make up procedure.

After your procedure you may experience some redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising, this is perfectly normal and will pass. If you are concerned about swelling, an ice pack may be applied to the area but it must be covered in a clean, dry cloth or cling film. Please do not touch the treated are with your fingers at all during the first week. Alway use cotton buds to apply ointment if advise or needed. Only cotton buds, never your fingers.
Try to keep the area as dry as possible for the first week, if you get water please blot it away immediately with a clean tissue.

BROW special care: You may apply a thin layer of the after care ointment only once in the morning and once in the evening. The application must be absolutely minimal and only with a clean cotton bud. You may use either vitamin a&d ointment, bepanthen, coconut oil or grapeseed oil.

EYELINER special care: Allow the eyeliner to dry heal, do not apply any ointment to the area. Keep it completely dry, do not use mascara for at least 4-5 days and the make sure you use a new one.

LIP special care: You may apply a very small amount of the after care ointment to the lip after it has had about 4 hours to dry. You are recommend to use bepanthen or coconut oil or shea butter on the lip and avoid vaseline based products. DO not over use the ointment as it will slow down your healing substantially, only apply the ointment sparingly 4-5 times a day with a clean cotton bud, do not use your fingers or the lip may blister.
A clear lymph fluid may weep from the area for the first 24hours, thereafter light crust will form over the area. You may gentle dab the area if weeping does occur, please use clean gauze or tissue and try to dab as little as possible.
The crust will crumble and flake off on its own after a few days. Do not pick, peel or scratch the area as it will cause the colour to fade unevenly and may cause an infection. Some itching is normal during this process, you may apply a little ointment to alleviate this.

Your colour will look dark and intense for about 1 week; it will lighten substantially as the crust flakes off. Your colour may fade by up to as much as 80% while healing, this is dependant on your individual skin type and cannot be predicted beforehand. The remaining 20% may be barely visible; this is a perfectly normal outcome.
In some cases the pigment may appear to have disappeared, but will re-emerge again after about two to three weeks.
The pigment will be beneath your epidermal tissue so will not look as vibrant as traditional make up applied on top of the skin.
You will require a follow up treatment 4-6 weeks after your first session. This touch up cannot be done before 4 weeks as the skin will not be sufficiently healed.
In some cases a third treatment may be necessary, especially if a heavier make-up or liner is required or if your skin does not retain the pigment well.

It is important to avoid the following for 1 Week:
Steam rooms or saunas; salt water or chlorinated swimming pools and Jacuzzi’s; excessive exercise; chemical skin peels or exfoliants; direct shower spray; make-up, cleanser, cream or toner directly over the treated area; frequent use of eye drops if you have had an eyeliner procedure; lash/brow tinting, lash perming, brow waxing/threading/tweezing avoid for 2 weeks
Once healed it is advisable to purchase a new lipstick or mascara, and to clean your make up applicators with a disinfectant liquid.

NO direct sunlight or use of sunbeds is allowed for 2 weeks. If you are going on a sunny holiday in 2-3 weeks it is better to postpone your appointment until after you holiday.

Important information

BLOOD DONATION: The Red Cross has suggested that you do not give blood for 12 months.
MRI/CAT SCANS: Some clients may experience a slight tingling sensation during the scan, please notify the radiologist beforehand.
INTENSE PULSED LIGHT/LASER: Please advise the IPL/laser technician before you undergo either of these treatments, as it will cause the pigment to turn black if applied directly over it.
INJECTABLES (botox or dermal fillers): These can alter the shape of your brow or lip line.

HOW SOON AFTER BOTOX OR FILLER CAN I HAVE A TREATMENT

You will need to wait at least 21 days after botox of filler before having a treatment. Please note that having botox or filler will alter the shape and symmetry of your treatment. Lip filler also reduces the amount of pigment retention.

CAN I WEAR MAKE UP AFTERWARDS

You should not apply make up directly to the the treated area for 24 hours. Thereafter mineral make up can be used if necessary. It is not advisable to use mascara for a week, if you have had your eyeliner done.

CAN PERMANENT MAKE-UP BE REMOVED

In some cases it can be, but not always. It depends on the location of the pigment and the condition of the pigment and skin.

CAN I HAVE MY LIPS DONE IF I HAVE COLD SORES

If you are having a lip treatment and you suffer from cold sores you MUST take Zovirax/AcIclover tablets 5 days before and 5 days after your treatment.

CAN I LEAVE MY FALSE LASHES ON

Your eyeliner cannot be done if you have false lashes on. They must be removed prior to treatment. You must then wait 2 weeks before getting your lashes done again.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN ON THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT

Your treatment will begin with a thorough consultation, during which we will discuss exactly what you would like from your treatment. Your skin tone and type will then be analysed, and Tarryn will mix a colour specifically suited to your skin tone and hair colour. Facial symmetry will then be addressed and a shape will be designed to enhance and compliment your features.
When you are happy with you shape, colour and placement, the treatment will go ahead.

DO I NEED A PATCH TEST FOR ALLEGY PRIOR TO TREATMENT

A patch test can be done 12 to 24 hrs before your treatment. This will not however, guarantee that you will not have a reaction to the pigment at any time the future.

HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED

We advise our clients that 2 sessions are usually required to complete their treatment. Some of the more dramatic treatments such a full lip colour or 2 colour eye liner or thick latino eyeliner may need a 3rd and even 4th session. Some skins to do not retain pigment well and in such cases 3 or 4 sessions are needed.

HOW LONG DO YOU ALLOW BETWEEN TREATMENTS

A minimum of 4 weeks is allowed before treating the skin again. We advise you to wait 4-6 weeks before returning for another treatment. If you have any medical concerns that would effect the healing process, it would be better to wait 6-8 weeks before treating again

HOW PERMANENT IS PERMANENT MAKE UP

The degree of colour permanency varies with each individual. The shade or tone of the pigment used will alter gradually over several months. It will lighten and alter in hue. No pigments implanted into the skin will remain the same colour indefinitely. You will need to maintain your permanent make up with regular top ups

HOW LONG WILL THE FINISHED RESULT LAST

Permanent make-up is not a one off treatment, it always requires annual maintenance. It is recommend that you return to us for a “top up” procedure every 6 – 12 months. This will keep your make up looking as it should, and prevent any unwanted hue’s from appearing during the fading process. If your Leave your make up for several years before returning to us, it is likely to need 2 treatments to “top it up” whereas done annually it will only require 1.
