Hi everyone, Christian here, owner of The Perrymount Clinic,

In today’s newsletter I have written about osteopathy and the help it can bring to a few of the most common ailments we see. Our six osteopaths are now giving around 500 treatments between us per month.

Personally, I am seeing mostly newborn babies and patients that have been seeing me for years and now are on the Wellness Club membership to both save money on their treatments and to keep their body feeling healthy and flexible on an ongoing, regular basis.

If you have not had osteopathy before then I have written about a few of the common issues and injuries we see, however it is also fantastic for keeping your spine flexible and pain free on a maintenance program, like our Wellness Club.

If you have persistent aches and pains osteopathy might just be the solution you've been searching for. It is natural, hands-on approach to healthcare focuses on balancing the musculoskeletal system and spine, offering relief where you need it most.

Did you notice I put “hands-on” in bold? The reason for this is that if you have been going through the very long NHS waiting list and treatment system for a musculoskeletal (MSK) issue you may have found that after very long waits, and numerous visits to different departments you have ended up at a treatment that gave you no actual “hands-on” relief.

Here’s some of the most common issues we see. Please keep in mind theres are many, many more not mentioned. Some of them quite unusual! Please just email if you have any questions.

Back Pain: Your Path to a Stronger Back

Back pain is a common issue that can disrupt your daily life. Our osteopaths excel in treating back pain, using techniques that not only relieve discomfort but also improve movement and support your spine's holistic health. Imagine bending, sitting, and moving freely without that nagging back pain!

At The Perrymount Clinic we also have an incredible addition to our treatments, our class 4 Klaser. This speeds healing at a fantastic rate and only takes up an average of 5 minutes within the treatment so you can still get the hands on osteopathy you love.

Neck and Shoulder Tension: Wave Goodbye to Stiffness

Many of us experience neck and shoulder tension, often due to poor posture or stress. Osteopathy offers a gentle yet effective way to ease this tension, promoting relaxation and improving mobility. Picture yourself turning your head easily and shrugging off that heavy feeling in your shoulders! Many patients comment on how they can’t look over their shoulder when driving so well anymore.

Headaches and Migraines: A Natural Approach to Relief

Frequent headaches and migraines can be debilitating. Osteopathic treatment can address the root causes, such as muscular tension or misalignments, providing a drug-free path to reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches. Envision your days free from the shadow of a headache!

On top of this there are also naturopathic nutritional approaches to helping headaches and migraines which can be investigated too.

Joint Pain: Regain Your Freedom of Movement

Joint pain can limit your activities and enjoyment of life. Osteopaths use hands-on techniques to reduce pain, increase joint mobility, and enhance overall joint health. Imagine taking a walk, gardening, or playing sports without joint pain holding you back.

Arthritis and wear and tear

A big bug bear of mine is elderly patients putting up with arthritis being told “it’s just your age, what do you expect”. We have excellent results with arthritis using osteopathy by getting better movement and circulation into the joints. Did you know that often X-rays show the NON-painful joint as more wear and tear than the painful one? That’s amazing isn’t it. So what’s going on?

It often means that the structure of the pelvis and spine is causing compensations which are putting more weight through joints like the knees and hips and setting up an inflammatory response which is where the pain comes from. Not actually from the cartilage wear and tear.

Looking deeper it could be that inflammatory foods have created a reaction within a joint and the pain is from that, not the wear and tear…

And here again we can offer naturopathic and supplement help for inflammation support.

Sports Injuries: Get Back in the Game Faster

Athletes, both amateur and professional, can benefit from osteopathy for sports injuries. Whether it's a sprain, strain, or overuse injury, osteopathic treatment can speed up recovery, improve performance, and prevent future injuries. Picture yourself achieving your sports goals with a stronger, more resilient body.

Let me mention again here that our laser if fantastic for the sports injuries to aid a quicker recovery so you can be painfree and back to the game you love ASAP. Because the laser is light therapy it can be used directly over the most acute, painful injuries, like a twisted ankle, that even our osteopaths wouldn’t be able to physically touch.

We also have a “Shockwave” therapy device which is a more stimulating machine for chronic, long-term injuries like plantar fasciitis, tennis and golfers elbows and other tendon injuries.

All ages: From days to old age

On the day I write this I have personally seen a 5 day old baby for help with colic and a traumatic birth and followed immediately by a patient in their 80’s to help them with arthritic pain and stiffness. Also to help their balance by getting a more flexible spine and better foot movement.

Gentle or firm, it’s your choice with our professional input

I’ve heard that some people think osteopathy is a “hard”  treatment that can be quite painful. I have actually heard this from people I speak to and I am surprised as it doesn’t have to be hard or painful at all. However it was very educational for me to understand that people thought this.

As osteopaths we see babies which require the most gentle of touch it’s hard to see what is going on when you watch. Many patients love a firm treatment, most love a click, other not. We see all ages and have all requests. We use our professional judgement to suggest what treatment is best for you and we will communicate that fully to you. Anything you don’t like then no worries, the treatment is what is best for you, to get you better in the quickest yet most gentle way. Just let your osteopath know about what you prefer or any worries you have.

Osteopathy isn't just about treating pain; it's about restoring your body's balance and natural ability to heal. With a focus on holistic well-being, our osteopaths can help you live a more active, pain-free life. Osteopathy really is a holistic, health giving treatment that allows your body to function better by improving your posture and spine health.
